Description
This pattern consists of the lucky Valknut, which also protects against witchcraft and the evil eye. The cushion is marked MND 1797. This probably stands for Mätta Nilsdotter, maternal granddaughter to the innkeepers in Everlöv, Torna. The original has wadmal tassels at the corners. The model for the embroidery is probably a cradle coverlet with a nearly identical pattern, which was embroidered by Mättas mother for her first daughter Hanna (Mätta’s sister).
The materials package includes: specialized tvistsöm embroidery ground in cotton, wool yarn, paper pattern, stitch description, color image, and needle. Fabric for the backing is not included but broadcloth and wadmal can be ordered from our shop. Fabric for the tassels is not included, we suggest you reuse old textiles or order small remnants of broadcloth and wadmal from us.
