Description
This cushion depicts three scenes from the Garden of Eden. Adam is lying down at right, and Eve is emerging from his rib. The Tree of Knowledge is in the middle, with the snake and the apple. There is a deer in front of Eve, a symbol of spiritual power and femininity; there is a lion in front of Adam, a symbol for earthly power and manliness. To the left, the angel swings its sword over Adam and Eve as they’re driven out of Paradise. This cushion comes from Bara and is at the National Museum in Copenhagen. A similar cushion is dated 1761.
The materials package contains: wool yarn for the weft and a paper pattern. Warp yarn is not included but can be ordered from our shop. We recommend linen 20/3 for Scanian tapestry. Wool for the backing and down pillow can also be ordered from our shop.
