Description

This embroidery comes from Öllsjö Farm, in Gärd. It’s currently in the collections at Regionmuseet in Kristianstad. Marked ANO 1804 IOD. The original backing was handwoven in “halvkrabba” in red, white, and blue on a black ground. It also has fabric tassels at the corners, in thin white leather and strips of silk in many different colors. Agnus Dei, or the lamb with the cross flag–the victory flag–is central symbol of Christianity. The cliff it stands on can also symbolize Christ or the church.

Embroidered using split stitch, one-sided satin stitch, and French knots.

The materials package contains: pre-drawn wool fabric, wool yarn, a paper pattern, a color image, stitch descriptions, and a needle. Fabric for the backing is not included but broadcloth and wadmal can be ordered from our shop. Fabric for the tassels is not included, we suggest you reuse old textiles or order small remnants of broadcloth and wadmal from us.
