Description
This pattern type is the most common among Skånska tapestries and were woven throughout southwestern Skåne. Recognizable flowers are carnations, tulips, crown imperials, roses, and narcissuses. The clothing on the man and woman varies from cushion to cushion. Often, the woman’s clothing will reflect the traditional clothing from the area. The oldest cushion with this pattern type is dated to 1776, and the “youngest” is marked 1848.
The materials package contains: wool yarn for the weft and a paper pattern. Warp yarn is not included but can be ordered from our shop. We recommend linen 20/3 for Scanian tapestry. Wool for the backing and down pillow can also be ordered from our shop.
